Barossa Community Home Care also offers activities within the Community. These recreational lifestyle activities offer many people the chance to interact, go on social outings and they include a HACC funded respite day program. The activities include the following:

Lifestyle Options

Barossa Village receives HACC funding to provide the Lifestyle Options programme. This programme provides respite for carers of people with dementia and the frail aged. The programme runs every Monday and Thursday.

The programme includes a range of activities such as craft, knitting, reminiscing, gardening, aromatherapy massage, movies, games and cooking.

Lunch is provided on the day and transport can be arranged. Cost is $12.50 a day and the programme is held at The Lodge, Scholz Ave, Nuriootpa.

Lifestyle Club

The Lifestyle Club offers a variety of activities including crafts, bingo, bus trips, outings and guest speakers. The Programme runs every Tuesday and is an excellent opportunity to socialise and meet new people. Lifestyle Club is from 10.30am to 3pm.

Lunch is provided and transport can be arranged. Cost of the day is $16.50 and the programme is held at The Lodge, Scholz Ave, Nuriootpa.

Cafe

Cafe is a social programme that supports the social interaction of residents and friends of our Independent Living Retirement Units. This programme is run every Friday at The Lodge and it involves a meal and an activity such as movie, sing a long or bingo. Cost is $12.50 and lunch is served at 12.30pm.

Tinker Shed

The Tinker Shed is a joint project between Barossa Village Inc and The Lions Club of Barossa Valley Inc. It is a unique project which provides a functional workshop environment giving people a place to make and create while sharing experiences and expertise.

With a comprehensive selection of operated machines available for a wide range of projects, our workshop gives space and ability back to individuals.

Open to everyone, both male and females, who enjoy making crafts. Volunteers from the Lions Club of Barossa Valley will be present at every session to operate all the machinery and offer sound advice and good working hands.

Some of the crafts available to try are;

  • Woodworking
  • Copper Art
  • Wood burning
  • Stained Glass Craft
  • Painting

The programme runs every Wednesday 9am to 12pm, and the cost is $5. Refreshments and bathroom facilities are available and Transport can be arranged. The Tinker Shed is located with our maintenance department on Research Road, Nuriootpa.

The Village Gym

The Village Gym is a programme that Barossa Village is quite proud of. It now runs most days of the week and it is located at The Lodge in Nuriootpa. The gym is operated by AnnMarie, a fully qualified Gym Instructor and each session is run in small groups of five, giving plenty of one on one interaction.

The Village Gym offers:

  • Personalised programs tailored to meet your preferences, requirements and goals.
  • Supervised training in the Gym with qualified, professional instructors to guide and motivate you.
  • Supportive group exercise sessions where you can meet others, make friends and share your successes.
  • Achievable and fun with games, challenges and music in a positive exercise environment.
  • Affordable group sessions with no joining fees - simply book in and pay as you go.

The Village Gym is for anyone over 55 and it is strongly recommend that you consult your health practitioner before commencing a physical exercise program.
